Federal Employee use Request

Federal employees often request use of Dept. of the Air Force marks (Air Force and Space Force) for official projects, special events, and morale functions. Our office can review your project in advance to ensure use of our intellectual properties complies with relevant instructions and guidelines.

Federal employees and/or their families also request personal items or mementos for their unit, such as personalized coins, retirement memorabilia, and unit-branded morale items. Our office can connect you to officially licensed vendors to create these items. Using officially licensed vendors helps put money back into MWR programs.

Additionally, our office can review morale patches and logos for specialized programs to ensure the patches and logos are free of any third party trademark or copyright.

How to have your project reviewed

  1. Review DODI 5535.12_DAFI 35-114, Enclosure 4, for information regarding personal items.
  2. Check for officially licensed vendors using our complete list of licensees.
  3. Complete the request form HERE.
  4. When contacted by an Intellectual Property Management specialist, have a PDF file of your design ready for review.
  5. After the item is produced, snap a photo and share it with us. We love to see how your projects turn out!

Contact licensing@us.af.mil if you have any questions.
